First session 7th April
This will be a free taster session as it is still in the school holidays, you will be able to sign up to the courses on the night and take forms away for completion, details as below.
Main sessions (starting 21st April)
Due to the increased number of paddlers coming on Tuesday evenings the system is being changed from last year in order to ensure continuity of training. Lessons will now be focused on two blocks of six sessions each, the first six weeks commencing 21st April. Paddlers will be need to buy six sessions to guarantee they will paddle those sessions. Once the maximum number of boats is reached these sessions will be deemed full. However, if any session has spaces due to non-arrival of people with pre-booked tickets then day tickets will be made available. Note that if you have not registered before 6.30 on any Tuesday evening it is likely that the boatshed will be locked and you will not be able to paddle, whether or not you have pre-booked tickets. Coaches will be unable to return to the shed once their training sessions are underway, and unclaimed places may well have been released to day paddlers. If you have your own boat and kit then the cap of boat numbers does not apply, but you still need to pay!
Cost of training for the Tuesday night sessions:
One block of six consecutive sessions of one, two or three star training costs £24.00 for children under 16, or £30 for adults, whether in your own boat or a Club boat. Missed sessions cannot be refunded. Forms for the first block of lessons starting 24th April must be completed and returned with payment by Monday 23rd April. Forms will be available at the taster session or by downloading off the website (Membership form) (Course form) here. Completed forms will need to be posted as we need payment in advance. Please include a phone number/email so Sarah can contact you to confirm your place. Maureen and Sarah will be there on the taster night to hand out the forms and explain the process! Sarah can be contacted with any queries after 5pm on 07870 769223. There are bound to be some teething problems as this is a new procedure, but once this is up and running and we all know the procedure it should run very smoothly!Social Paddle
For Club Members with their own boat and kit and who have reached two star level but who don't wish to train for their three star qualification, there can be a social paddle each Tuesday which will not be part of the formal training programme. A social paddle with your own boat and kit is free of charge to members - but you can't join a training group
Sit-on-Tops
The Club is actively encouraging people with sit-on-tops to come along and join. The BCU 1-star qualifications are valid for sit-ons and the Club can help you to achieve the skills required for getting the most from your boat.
